Kiwi is the name of New Zealanders equivalent to Pinoys for Filipinos.
Kiwi is actually the name of a bird that symbolizes New Zealand. This name is associated so much with this country, that people are colloquially called Kiwis.
Although New Zealand is predominantly populated by whites (it was part of the British Empire), they have natives called the Maoris who looked very much like Filipinos . . . but bigger version.
These Maoris have a rich culture. Among them is the "Haka" . . . a traditional dance. This Holy Week, led by Auntie Consuelo "Dicdic" del Castillo a group of Kiwis including Maoris visited Gigaquit. They performed the Haka during Easter Sunday lunch (see above photo) . . .
