Gakit Sportsfest 2014

Gigaquit will focus on only one festival which is the Las-ay Festival.
Las-ay Festival is about the celebration of the famed Gigaquit Wine , also known as "Gigaquit Rhum".

So what will happen to the Gakit Festival?
Gigaquit will still celebrate "the Gakit" as part of its heritage.
But this time in the form of beach sports and related activities.

The Gakit Sportsfest this year will still be celebrated during the Easter Sunday.
Which for 2014 will fall on the 20th of April.

See you there!

Kiwis (New Zealanders) in Gigaquit

By: Steven E

Kiwi is the name of New Zealanders equivalent to Pinoys for Filipinos.
Kiwi is actually the name of a bird that symbolizes New Zealand. This name is associated so much with this country, that people are colloquially called Kiwis.
Although New Zealand is predominantly populated by whites (it was part of the British Empire), they have natives called the Maoris who looked very much like Filipinos . . . but bigger version.
These Maoris have a rich culture. Among them is the "Haka" . . . a traditional dance. This Holy Week, led by Auntie Consuelo "Dicdic" del Castillo a group of Kiwis including Maoris visited Gigaquit. They performed the Haka during Easter Sunday lunch (see above photo) . . .

Also, see below video to get an idea how Haka is performed.
